Third Trimester Intentions & Rituals

Third Trimester Intentions & Rituals

I never say never but in what feels like it could be my last pregnancy, I feel a tug to be extra intentional and sentimental with these next 80 or so days before birthing our third child.

I wrote about my feelings about knowing you’re “done having babies” in a post already (see below) so I won’t repeat myself here on that.

But let’s talk a little about the third trimester and preparing for birth. I always joke with first-time moms that pregnancy is brilliantly designed because by the time giving birth is upon you, staying pregnant is actually way scarier than giving birth.

The way I see it is, I can spend the rest of what is probably my last pregnancy just trudging through or I can do my best to make it as special as possible and have no regrets looking back on how I spent this time. After all, time is a currency we never get back.

And despite being sick nearly every day of this pregnancy, I am still one of those annoying women who loves being pregnant. But I do even still with this difficult pregnancy I could have never anticipated. There are hard days but there are no days that I’m not grateful and in total awe of what our bodies are capable of doing - we grow an entire human and an organ from scratch. Our bodies just know how to build a tiny human out of millions of cells that all come together in a very specific way to make a heart, lungs, toes, eyelashes, and so on. It blows my mind and I will never cease to feel the awe.

One of my favorite things to obsess over with my fresh little newborn babies is the blood capillaries in their ears. There are so many of them. They are so tiny. It’s like a tiny universe of little veins that my body made into AN EAR from nothing. It blows my mind and I can’t wait to hyperfixate on it for a third time.

Okay, let’s get into the topic which is taking my intention of being present, grateful, and finding joy in this last trimester and how I am turning those intentions into action. I truly believe that it’s our daily habits that contribute most when it comes to the success and satisfaction of our lives and this is why I’m so obsessed with my own daily habits and staying committed to them.

I also want to add that there are some daily habits I am subtracting to make room for some new ones so that I’m not overwhelmed and just adding to my day-to-day during a time where slowing down will actually be “more productive”.

Thank you for reading Sip on This ☕. Do you know someone having a baby this year? I’d love it if you shared with them!
